LATE NOVEMBER OFFERS

November offers from Caspian Caviar 10% OFF BELUGA AND SELECTED GIFTS Now that we are in the last week of November, we thought we would whizz out another quick offer to help you with your Christmas shopping. We have lopped 10% from our ever popular Beluga . This hybrid (Hus/Bae) Beluga is farmed in northern Italy and has been a customer favourite for some years. The large, dark grey eggs make it a delight on the eye, and the flavour is just as good. We have also put some of... Read More

Caviar “Reviews”.

Despite the recommendations of a host of ecommerce experts, we have refused to include a caviar “Review” facility on our website. Apparently, they are all the rage but I am always struck how all reviews on websites are 5 star and I find it very irritating when they pop up just when I want to do something on the site. I find it even more irritating when I then get pestered for reviews post purchase. My irritations with web reviews are not the only reasons we will not entertain them.... Read More

Another October Caviar Tasting

Another week, another caviar tasting – woe is me! This time we started with a French Baerii, moving on to a couple of Belugas, before checking our Royal Oscietra to make sure it was still up to the mark. The Baerii caviar looked OK and tasted good, although some tasters found it a little soft. The general consensus was that it was good, but not as good as our current stock of Baerii. Then it was the turn of the Beluga caviar (Huso Huso), which was interesting as both samples... Read More

OCTOBER TASTING OF TRANSMONTANUS CAVIAR

As I have often said, I am not that keen on caviar derived from Transmontanus, or White Sturgeon as they are more commonly known. These fish are not white, but their flesh is making them prized for their meat, with the caviar being a bit of a side show. I have tasted more bad than good, although I do very much like what we sell as Caspian Caviar White Caviar. Thus I was intrigued when a large producer offered to send three samples of different grades of transmontanus. Would I... Read More

Second August Caviar Tasting

This has been a busy month for tasting, with several producers sending samples in the hope of being selected for our range. After our last tasting of several Siberian (Baerii) caviars, this time we looked at the more unusual. We tried a Sevruga and a Golden Sterlet, both from farms in Italy. To add a little context we also included some of our Royal Oscietra. I have often said that sourcing good Sevruga is a tricky job, and I had high hopes for this example. It looked the part –... August Baerii Tasting

For a little while now, we have been planning to change our supply of Siberian Caviar. The posh name for the Siberian Sturgeon is Baerii and we sell it as Sibirskye, which is Russian for Siberian. Our current supply is very good and is very popular, but we do like to freshen things up occasionally so a new Baerri seemed a good idea. Baerri is the mainstay of the sturgeon farming industry as it matures relatively quickly and produces very good caviar. Recent years have seen an increase in the... Read More

OFFERS FOR ROYAL ASCOT AND FATHERS’ DAY

June sees two big events taking place, or one – depending on your opinion. First up is Fathers’ Day this coming Sunday, when we all have the chance to thank the down trodden and neglected Fathers for their selfless self sacrifice, both financially and emotionally, in their oft derided efforts to produce well rounded off spring. For them, we offer 10% off our ever popular House Selection as well as a range of House Selection gifts. Next up is Royal Ascot. So what better than 10% off our Royal Oscietra.... Read More

JUNE CAVIAR TASTING

It is always nice to begin the month with a tasting session. We had two samples to have a go at, and I also fancied putting in some of our Royal Oscietra just to gain people’s reaction. I do like to continually test our range to make sure it is as good as it can be. First up, was some Bester Caviar. “Bester?” I hear you say, “What on earth is that?”. It is, in fact, a fairly common hybrid of Huso Huso x Ruthenus (Sterlet). I say fairly common... Read More

Spring Bank Holiday Offer

10% OFF ALL BELUGA With the Spring Bank Holiday on the horizon, it seems a good time to spread a little offer over all our Beluga. Our Royal Beluga is a long term customer favourite. It is derived from hybrid sturgeon (Huso Huso crossed with Siberian) and hence offers a great caviar at a sensible price. Then our Special Reserve Beluga is the real McCoy – pure Huso Huso with the largest eggs and creamy flavour for those special occasions, or just some indulgence! Offer runs until the Bank Holiday.... February Caviar Tasting at Caspian Caviar

I have often been heard to remark how the over all quality of farmed caviar has improved over the last 5 or so years. Once upon a time, the quality of samples was a bit of a lottery. Recently, the samples have been consistently good, providing good competition across the range. However, some samples we received earlier this month were a throw back to earlier, simpler times, when would-be suppliers could be discounted with ease. The farm lay further east than where we normally source and was situated in a... Read More
